our artist in residence arrives Oct 1 til Oct 12
Jade, a contemporary paper and textile artist from Wollongong, begins her residency on October 1, to start work on her installation – Botanical Wunderkammer … and we need a few ‘hands’ to help her complete the work.
Jade’s work incorporates an eclectic range of craft techniques - origami, bookbinding and quilting combined with drawing, painting and collaged textbook page. spectrescope.blogspot.com
Really - you must have a look at it. :-)
Jade will be working either at the new Nowa Nowa Community Room (between the Petanque Piste and the Health Centre), or installing the work at the ‘display home’ over the road, during her two week stay [1 -12 October]. Work will generally be occurring between 11-3 each day.
Jade’s workshops are free, friendly and informal - but we would love to know who is coming if possible.(email me) Come for an hour or two. Come for one day – or come for all. You are bound to be inspired – and we’d love Jade to meet some of our local artists!
On Tuesday 9 October, Jade wil be speaking to the EGTAFE Visual Arts students (at Nowa Nowa) about her practice – and showing examples of her work. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Jade studied art at West Wollongong TAFE and the University of Wollongong. Her work is included in the collections of Wollongong City Gallery, University of Wollongong and North Wollongong TAFE. Jade currently has an exhibition at Gallery 9 in Sydney; has been selected as the 2007 Wollongong City Gallery Resident Artist; won first prize in the 2005 Meroogal Women’s Art Prize; and was awarded the Bundadon Trust Regional Artist in Residence
